              ABOUT

   David Gerstel has enjoyed success as a licensed general contractor for over four decades. He is the author of several books admired for their readability and for the clear and expert guidance they provide to both startup and veteran builders. 

 Nail Your Numbers: A Path to Skilled Construction Estimating and Bidding, became a construction industry bestseller soon after publication. Running a Successful Construction Company is often described as "a bible" of the construction industry.    

   Gerstel's newest book, Building Freedom: A Construction Pro's Path to Financial Independence, focuses on the principles and practices that enable builders to consistently produce good work and achieve financial freedom. 

   Gerstel's interests in both construction and writing date back to his youth. He was helping out in a neighbor's wood shop and building tree houses while still in elementary school. In high school and college, he  was editor-in-chief of the student newspapers. After completing college at Brandeis University and University College (London, England), he learned construction literally from the ground up, starting as a ditch digger and becoming a journeyman framer, project manager, and general contractor.
